
Certified Accident Investigation Specialist (CAIS)
Course Description
This three-day program is designed to ensure that first responders, managers, supervisors, and other personnel are trained in conducting a proper accident investigation, including securing the scene, interviewing witnesses, photographing the scene, writing the report, and identifying the root causes of the accident.
Learning Outcomes
This program teaches:
Learn the basic step-by-step procedure for approaching the scene and performing the investigation.
Explain what an accident/incident is, its frequency, and its cost.
Recognize and use the initial response to the scene.
Review guidelines for effective interviewing.
Collect evidence using the four Pās ā People, Parts, Position, and Paper- and participate in a mock accident/incident investigation.
Complete the appropriate information in an accident/investigation report.

Basic safety knowledge
Document reading ability
Safety role preferred
No experience needed
Target Audience
This course will be valuable for health and safety advisers/officers, safety
representatives, managers, supervisors, or anyone with responsibility for investigating
accidents. The topics covered in this accident investigation training course can be
applied to any sector.
