Certified Hospital Custodial, Janitors & Housekeeper Safety Specialist (CHCSS)
Course Description
The hospital and healthcare custodial profession today not only commands greater respect but also requires a high level of knowledge and skill. Several factors have contributed to this new professional image, most notably the growing recognition that hospital custodians and housekeepers play a critical role in maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring a healthy, safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Custodians, janitors, and housekeepers in healthcare settings frequently work with hazardous chemical cleaners and are exposed to bacteria and pathogens that are not typically found in residential environments. Because of these risks, it is essential for workers to understand how to effectively control germs while also protecting themselves during cleaning and sanitation activities.
Custodial, janitor, and housekeeper training provides significant benefits for both employers and employees by reducing accidents and improving overall workplace safety. Proper training ensures that workers know the correct methods for cleaning bathrooms, hospitals, and other high-risk areas, introduces them to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements, and teaches the safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals.
