Certified Fall Protection and Elevated Structures Safety Manager (CFPSM)

$1,295.00
Level: Advanced Type: On_site Duration: 4 weeks Hours: 32 hours

Course Description

In accordance with 29 CFR 1910 and 29 CFR 1926, all telecommunications employees and contractors who perform tower or elevated work must be medically qualified to perform those jobs. They must also be trained and certified as “Qualified” to perform these tasks, have the appropriate equipment, work on safe structures, and conduct their duties in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations.

Tower climbers are only permitted to climb towers that are certified by the manufacturer to meet the Telecommunications Industry Association/Electronic Industries Association (TIA/EIA) 222 standards for tower construction and 29 CFR 1910.66 Appendix C for anchorages. Towers that do not meet these standards will be red-tagged as “Do Not Climb!” until they are either retrofitted or replaced with compliant towers. Service may be performed by alternative methods, such as aerial devices, when necessary.

This training course provides an in-depth focus on fall protection requirements in the industrial environment. Participants will learn about the specific equipment needed for tower work, including harnesses, fall protection lanyards, secondary fall protection lines, and anchoring challenges. The course also covers edge protection, job briefings, ascending techniques, and proper logging and documentation of all equipment and training.

The curriculum is designed to follow, meet, and exceed OSHA CFR 1910.268 standards as well as ANSI Z359 and Z490 guidelines, ensuring that participants gain comprehensive knowledge and practical skills necessary for safe tower and elevated work operations.
